Privacy has been generating a lot of buzz recently. Last month, “Do Not Track” legislation was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, spurring even more debate in the online privacy discussion. We’ve been covering the topic here on the TAP blog, as our privacy scholars have been following the issue (see Chris Hoofnagle’s “A Do-Not-Track Dilemma” post and a recap of the Browser Privacy Mechanisms Roundtable, which was moderated by TAP scholars).
In light of the discussions surrounding this issue, TAP will be hosting a chat on Twitter under the hashtag #TAPtalk on March 16 at 2 p.m. EST.

Our lineup of participants, who will ask and answer questions during the hour-long TAPtalk, includes the following privacy experts:

  • Adam Thierer, Senior Research Fellow at Mercatus Center: @AdamThierer
  • Chris Hoofnagle, Director, Information Privacy Programs at UC Berkeley: @ hoofnagle
  • Ashkan Soltani, Independent Researcher and Consultant: @ashk4n
  • Jules Polonetsky, Co-Chair and Director at The Future of Privacy Forum: @JulesPolonetsky
  • Randy Picker, Professor at University of Chicago Law School: @randypicker
  • Justin Brookman, Center for Democracy & Technology: @JustinBrookman
  • Mike Hintze, Associate General Counsel, Microsoft: @MHintze
  • Shaun Dakin, Privacy Camp: @ShaunDakin

TAP scholars, privacy thought leaders, think tanks and tech policy journalists and others who are interested are encouraged to join us for what is sure to be a lively conversation! Our goal is to create an open dialogue about privacy policy, allowing everyone to share their opinions and expertise, as well as connect with people interested in the same topic.
