Mark Cooper is a Senior Adjunct Fellow with Silicon Flatirons, a Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado and Director of Research, Consumer Federation of America.
In this interview, Dr. Cooper explains what structured viral communications is and outlines how different organizations have been successful using it. “There are a lot of successful institutional organizational operations that try to blend the freedom of viral communications at the periphery with some structure from the center, oriented around tasks. It’s that middle ground where you find a way to let people do their own thing, but get them to do things that are really helping the collectivity --whether it’s making money or running a political campaign.”
Dr. Mark Cooper holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and combines a commitment to public interest advocacy with academic research. He has been at the Consumer Federation of America for over 25 years, where as Director of Research, he has prepared approximately 200 research reports and provided expert testimony in over 125 cases for public interest clients, including Attorneys General, People’s Counsels, and citizen interveners before state public utility commissions. He has testified over 100 times before federal agencies, Congress, and the courts.
