The Right to Repair Under Siege?

Intellectual Property and Networks, the Internet, and Cloud Computing

Event Details

Hosted by the UC Berkeley School of Law

With today’s software-enabled products, like cars and toasters, we cannot take for granted the right to repair them ourselves or to take them to a repair shop of our choosing. A growing movement advocating a right to repair has emerged. This conference will consider a complex, overlapping set of policy questions, such as how do restrictions on repair affect competition? How might policymakers resolve tensions between the right to repair and the intellectual property rights of device makers?
