Marco Iansiti is the David Sarnoff Professor of Business Administration, and he is a co-director of the Laboratory for Information Science at Harvard and of the Digital Initiative at HBS. Professor Iansiti’s research examines the digital transformation of companies and industries, with a special focus on digital ecosystems, AI-centric operating models, and the impact of AI and network effects on strategy and business models.

Professor Iansiti is known for his research on the management of innovation, business ecosystems, and digital transformation. His work on business ecosystems and their impact on strategy has been widely recognized and quoted. More recently, his research on digital transformation has received broad attention among both academics and practitioners. He developed courses on Managing Product Development, Starting New Ventures, and worked with Karim Lakhani to create the Digital Innovation and Transformation course. He is currently responsible for the Digital Transformation course module in the Executive Education Advanced Management Program, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious executive programs.

He has authored or coauthored several books, including Technology Integration, The Keystone Advantage, One Strategy. His newest book, Competing in the Age of AI, was cowritten with Karim R. Lakhani and published by Harvard Business Review Press in 2020.

Professor Iansiti has advised a variety of Fortune 500 firms with a focus on digital strategies and transformation. He currently serves on the boards of several companies, including PDF Solutions, ModuleQ, and Keystone Strategy, a consulting firm he co-founded.
